Teen Art

Teens are inspired through this long-standing, accomplished art program to develop a new level of drawing and painting skills with instruction by artist, Hayley Mayne both virtually and in the studio. Students gain a greater understanding of art principles and art elements through intensive art exercises for the first four weeks of each session. Each student is dedicated to independent study and the opportunity to explore limitless possibilities for the next four weeks! Teen classes engage students while using professional art equipment, lighting, props and tools.

Our staff has worked diligently to implement protocols as recommended by the ADHS and CDC, and we are eager to serve our students with their health and safety as our first priority.

We continue taking all precautions recommended including routine cleaning and sanitizing, reduced capacity, single use of aprons and art supplies, maintaining social distancing, and overall being cautious and clean.

We will no longer be able to hold make up classes during regularly scheduled classes. A make up class will be set at the end of the session on a Friday afternoon. During this time we will help students to complete the projects they missed. Each week we will complete a new project, so if your child misses a class, they will not be behind when they return the following week. Parents must register online for this make up class on the calendar.

We are so pleased to provide the opportunity for growing artists to further improve their artistic knowledge and skill in FIVE different workshops! Choose one, or take all five – and gain skills for a lifetime! Each workshop is a stand-alone class, so students are welcome to enroll in as many as they like. Our instructor, Hayley Mayne, will guide students as they explore different subject matter experimenting with a variety of materials. We are excited to be offering the following courses: Colorful Pet Portraits, Seascapes/Water Reflections, Portraiture with Expression, Shiny, Sparkly, Reflective, and Wild Animal Painting.

Requirements: Due to the nature of this portfolio-building program (intermediate/advanced), we recommend each student have at least two years of previous experience at CCAS (after school program), or one year of HS art, in order to ensure basic knowledge of art materials, as well as a basic understanding of art elements and principles. Class size is limited and designed for mentoring the needs of each student.

Any artist who excels at depicting the human face knows practice is key to developing these skills! Learning to really see the face is the key – we will be doing lots of fun and engaging exercises to help build these skills. Before you know it, you’ll be rendering true emotion and feelings in the faces you draw!

Workshop 4 – Shiny, Sparkly, Reflective
