Favorite Artist:
My favorite artists are Mark Rothco for his brilliant color studies, Monet for his huge impasto garden paintings, Van Gogh for his passion and the intensity, Richard Schmidt for teaching my generation how to connect spiritually to representational work through elegant brushwork and strong commitment to art principles.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
I absolutely love my oil paints! I would eat them if I could, but I can’t, they’re toxic. Okay, watercolors are lovely and light and fun and acrylics are perfect for quick paintings. As long as I have a brush in my hand, I am happy!
Favorite Artist:
Definitely Vincent Van Gogh and Alphonse Mucha. The colors and motion in Van Gogh’s pieces are captivating; he is absolutely one of the most brilliant painters that ever lived! As for Mr. Mucha, I discovered him when I was backpacking through the Czech Republic. I viewed his paintings and prints in a local museum as well as his stain glass pieces in the St. Vitus Cathedral. His graphic yet whimsical Art Nouveau style is just about the coolest thing you will ever experience!
Favorite Medium/Subject:
My favorite mediums are acrylic and watercolor. Watercolor has proven to be a challenging medium but I love, love, LOVE the end results! I truly enjoy painting people and animals – it’s way too much fun to see your paintings come alive, especially of subjects that you know!
Favorite Artist:
There are too many! I love Helen Frankenthaler’s color field pieces, Edward Hopper’s realist paintings of rural and urban American scenes, Salvador Dali for his imagination, and Frida Kahlo for the pain and passion behind her self portraits. I’m currently reading a translated version of Frida’s illustrated journal, and it’s truly remarkable.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
My first love is acrylic paint, but I have been working mostly with watercolor and colored pencil for the past several years, and I really enjoy those as well.
Favorite Artist:
My favorite artist is New Zealand artist Phoebe Gander. She is an inspiring small business owner that has explored many different styles and techniques out of experimentation. She has broken down the walls of what a traditional artist looks like and has tackled what it is to be an artist in a modern world. She is raw and open-hearted and her work is so inspiring and incredible. I draw so much encouragement and inspiration from her.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
My favorite medium is Acrylic paint because it is so versatile and allows for mixed media, texture, water, and so much to be added to it. My favorite subject matter is landscape. How light and colors play against the earth and water gives me so much joy. I love to play with painting techniques to abstractly express the landscape.
Favorite Artist:
Georgia O’Keeffe; I love her modern and abstract paintings!
Favorite Medium/Subject:
I love watercolor and acrylic paint! My favorite subject includes anything with flowers!
Favorite Artist:
A few of my favorite artists include Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, and Daniel Micheal Diaz. Rembrandt had so much control over his pen and ink that it is ridiculously masterful, while da Vinci’s studies are evidence of his absolute genius. Daniel Martin Diaz is a contemporary artist I discovered a couple of years ago who has a fascinating take on connecting religious imagery and esoteric symbology to scientific and mathematical imagery and functions.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
As a mixed media artist, I enjoy a variety of mediums. I fell in love with Nupastel and charcoal in college. Their ability to push and pull a subject in and out of shape in an image is unmatched. Currently, I’m enjoying playing with watercolor, pen and ink, and white charcoal, as my current mediums of choice. Working with recognizable subjects makes playing with style and abstraction a whole lot of fun. I tend to stick to organic life ( be it plants, animals, or the human figure) because life is so incredibly interesting, and natural for people to connect with it.
Favorite Artist:
Monet because I love his style and I’m obsessed with gardens and flowers!
Favorite Medium/Subject:
My favorite mediums would have to be watercolor and acrylic!
Favorite Artist:
Leonid Afremov. His style and use of colors were what inspired me to start painting!
Favorite Medium/Subject:
Realism because I love capturing the colors, textures, and shapes of things I find beautiful in everyday things. Watercolor. It’s so satisfying in how the brushes move the pigment with the water on the paper.
Favorite Artist:
Van Gogh because he painted with his emotions!
Favorite Medium/Subject:
Acrylic paint because it is versatile
Favorite Artist:
Dali because of his unique style.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
Acrylic because it’s easy to work with.
Favorite Artist:
Bernini and Dali are two of my favorite artists. Bernini’s technical skills are crazy good producing very detailed artworks. Dali is a master of surrealistic imagery mixed with realistic rendering.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
Watercolors are my favorite medium because of the detail achievable, array of techniques, and portability. I take my watercolor journal and travel palette everywhere including my hammock! My favorite subject is often changing, but I really enjoy portraiture. I like how emotive faces are, and the challenge of creating new ways to capture people.
Favorite Artist:
Monet and David Hockney are two of my favorite artists. Monet has been a favorite since I was a child. I was fascinated with his life, paintings, and his garden. David Hockney is a very inspiring artist to me. I love the way he uses colors and shapes to form the lights and shadows in his paintings.
Favorite Medium/Subject:
My favorite medium currently is watercolor and prisma colored pencils! I have started to really enjoy the slow layering process with those mediums. I also am a fan of acrylic paint and oil paints as well!
