Nestled in the foothills of Camelback Mountain in a peaceful, secluded environment in Paradise Valley, artist, Lon Magargee built his art studio/home on this inspiring property in the 1930’s. In keeping with the property’s artistic origins, a variety of scheduled art events and classes are offered by Creative Color Art Studios at The Hermosa Inn:

MIMOSA & MONET SATURDAY MORNINGS

The seven-part painting series led by Creative Color Art Studios, teaches everyone from enthusiastic beginners to emerging professionals to paint like the greats. Guests will enjoy a morning of entertaining art instruction while sipping mimosas, eating pastries and creating masterpieces in the stunning desert gardens. Accomplished artists will teach, inspire and guide painters on an artistic journey while learning to gracefully handle acrylic on canvas. Saturday morning classes will be held monthly, October-May. Outdoor painting – or plein air – was popularized by French painter Claude Monet and his fellow impressionists. Join critically acclaimed Plein Air painter Carrie Curran for this Artist in Residence luncheon, as she shares her passion for this art form while spreading the message of the ever-growing Plein Air movement. Whether a collector, experienced artist, novice, docent, or one just has the love of arts, Curran’s energetic approach to painting will inspire and evoke a powerful connection with plein air painting. She will also share expert advice on collecting, painting techniques, and a current collection of her plein air pieces will be on display and for sale in the boutique store.

Learn to paint en plein air on the beautiful grounds of The Hermosa Inn located in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Carrie will demonstrate step-by-step as you create your own paintings on canvas. Discover what to paint, how to observe and capture the light, and experiment with mixing colors on a limited palette. Bring your sense of adventure and a sunhat!
